Microsoft Product Activation
Microsoft Product Activation Let's see if I have this right. Microsoft bolts together an excellent package of office by the purchase of programs from many other companies (or even outright purchase of businesses) and improves the product. They have an incredibly high price of the product, and despite the price enough to be able to sell more or less its market. Of course, the product is excellent, good, in fact, he is mercilessly copied by people around the world. Despite being copied, Microsoft has managed to EEK few tens of billions of dollars on this range of products. After many versions, the product has finally come close to perfection with Office 2000. In fact, it's so close to perfection as the only "features" of the following are the tag (which nobody seems to want and that are not implemented in any case, very good) and activation. Now, it seems that there is no reason why in fact no one in their right mind to update their products to Office XP from 2000. I looked closely at the new version, and I could not sell my head of spending several hundred dollars per copy - there is absolutely no retu on investment of any kind. And that the original question is - why change? Office 2000 contains everything you might want this type of product in 2000% increase. Of course, Microsoft has realized this and took steps to remedy the situation. They have decided in their infinite wisdom, we will update if we like it or not. You see, businesses are forced to update the changes through the support and license agreements. There is no doubt that a person in my position in any company I know has plans to upgrade to Office XP at any time in the immediate future. We must purchase the upgrade almost immediately in May, or we have to pay outrageous fees update in a few years. Since this is a very good bet that the new operating system is not working earlier versions of Office, there are only forced to improve because we have no choice. Obviously, the biggest problem with Microsoft is to convince users to install the product on a single computer system. The sky that someone buys a product and made the installation on two computers that is - no matter that he has paid more than $ 479 ($ 239 for the upgrade) in a glorified word processor, spreadsheet and other things probably never use. To avoid this travesty of justice, Microsoft has created product activation. This means that you buy the product (in this case, the Office XP) and install it on your computer. Now you can run 50 times or more or less before it stops working. Time to activate the product, which means that you can "call home" on the Inteet. You must do this on a single machine. If the machine too many changes, the product stops working and May, you have to do all over again. After too many changes (I believe it is), the product does not work anymore until you physically pick up the phone and call Microsoft to get the activation key of 50 characters. That Microsoft is on the ground with the brain? Here someone who actually bought their products, despite the high price and make it difficult for them to install the thing? Moreover, if they have the gall to want to install on your wife, and then force you to go and buy another copy? This is (sorry was) a loyal customer who plunked a few hard-eaed money for an office suite that is a lot more than price competition. Please note that this person could be much more convenient to buy a product such as StarOffice, paid much less and has all the characteristics that might be similar. Office Office has chosen because he wanted and was willing to pay for it. And is now closed in the face. But in the case of software piracy? This system of product activation does nothing to prevent piracy. Believe me, the hackers and crackers warez sent copies of their sites before the product is still available! It is stupid to think that some activation of the system will stop these people? I know, the news has been full of stories of places like China, which would cost millions of illegal copies of all times. Do you think this stupid little thing will stop them? I bet that you have withdrawn from the activation of the product itself before hackers. What should Microsoft do? In my humble opinion, would have created an update that has been the difficulty and cost of an upgrade to begin. Office XP is not even close. Furthermore, as the creation of a "home license, which allows copies to be made legally on any computers in one house? Surcharge of 20% if you have it - or better still, simply to allow people to make additional copies of their wives system. What is product activation not two things: first, it was designed to convince everyone that the update has a certain value. Otherwise, Microsoft why bother to work so hard to protect? Second, it harms the user, who now must make a choice: to buy more copies of Office using the hard eaed money, buying a different product (like StarOffice), or to obtain an illegal copy. Personally, I check the competition. This, among other things, is something that I never dreamed of a couple of years ago. In my opinion, Office 2000 is by far the best tool of its kind on the market. But that is all I have to pay two or three times to him? Hardly. No, we will see, where you can get a demonstration copy of StarOffice? Perhaps WordPerfect or Lotus has improved in five or more years since I last looked? Let's see ...
