NiCad and NiMH batteries, lithium
NiCad and NiMH batteries, lithium Three main types of rechargeable batteries are used to the new technology of handheld devices. Scientists are trying to develop batteries with better technologies faster, more powerful and lightweight. In the past, the only type of rechargeable battery has a lead-acid battery, which contains liquid and must be kept upright in a ventilated area. Although still in use in cars and motorcycles, scientists have developed batteries gel, if the liquid is semi-solid and does not spill. These batteries, commonly used in the new devices are nickel-cadmium (NiCad), nickel metal (NiMH), and most recently, lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries. Nickel-cadmium or NiCad batteries are less expensive of the three types because it has less power. They are mainly used in mobile phones, power tools, and some portable devices. They are more practical than the lead acid batteries because of their greater strength and lightness. We also have an advantage over alkaline batteries are not rechargeable. NiCad are said to be the one who suffers from "memory effect" which, in reality, it is a lazy battery effect, when the battery is discharged immediately after fully charged. A NiCad battery only for a duration of 1000 cycles, so the time needed to be replaced. NiMH batteries are close to the podium of the newer, more powerful batteries. Although similar to NiCad batteries, NiMH batteries do not contain toxic cadmium, which are considered one of the most environmentally friendly battery. They are also more capacity NiCad and is said not to suffer the "memory effect" significantly more. After the appropriate steps to load and in the performance of NiMH batteries is very important. NiMH batteries need smart chargers that keep them from over-charging. It 'also important not to run a portable device that creates "reverse charge", which can damage the battery. Notes most of the security features of the discharge voltage and close automatically. In this case, the NiMH batteries are much more efficient drainage devices such as digital cameras, while the NiCad batteries are more efficient devices with a rapid rate of discharge, as instruments of power. NiMH batteries are also used in hybrid cars. The most recent and most powerful of all types of rechargeable batteries is the lithium-ion battery. Compared with NiCad batteries, NiMH and Li-ion batteries have the highest density and lowest voltage auto-rate management. It is the smallest and lightest of all the batteries, but all the benefits that much more expensive. New Li-Ion batteries are said to load 10 times faster than NiMH or NiCad batteries, and this in a fraction of the time. Li-Ion are very sensitive to high temperatures can shorten its life considerably. Extremely high temperatures may also cause a Li-Ion battery to explode. Different types of batteries have their advantages and disadvantages. While some of the most convenience and greater capacity, there are still many constraints facing the development of batteries. However, battery technology is improving day after day to help devices last longer.
